Info about Correnti Island

Thank you for purchasing the Souvenir of the Correnti Island, created by Andrea Gozzo in 2024.

The small island in the municipality of Portopalo di Capo Passero is visited every year by thousands of tourists fascinated by nature, by the characteristic lighthouse and by the disused military structure (once the lighthouse's home) from where they can admire the enchanting coast.

The souvenir of the Correnti Island also reproduces the meeting of the 2 seas, the Ionian and the Mediterranean, whose currents generate a unique spectacle.

A stone tongue, now partly collapsed, connects the Correnti Island to the mainland, where the marble statue of Christ the Redeemer welcomes visitors at the southernmost point of Sicily, Italy and Europe, right in front of the embrace of the 2 seas. 

Included in the master plan of parks and nature reserves, the Correnti Island extends for approximately 10,000 square meters and is home to wild leek seedlings, capers and vegetation typical of the Mediterranean scrub.
