Info about Caretta Caretta (baby turtles)

Thank you for purchasing the souvenir of the Caretta Caretta turtle, fascinating creatures that populate the Mediterranean, made by Andrea Gozzo in 2024.

This souvenir represents a Caretta Caretta nest that hatches and emerges on our beaches, and then reaches the sea.

Caretta Caretta sea turtles can live up to 80 years in the wild. One of their nests can host up to a hundred eggs, deposited on our beaches, which hatch after a period of 45-70 days.

Sea turtles have lungs and therefore need air to breathe, however they are able to remain underwater for a very long time, even hundreds of meters deep.

Sea turtle conservation is an environmental imperative, threatened by marine pollution, illegal fishing and climate change.
